Installing the FirstClass Client for Macintosh:

1)
Print these instructions or bookmark this page in your web browser, so that you may refer back while you are completing the installation.

2)
Click on the following link:

This will begin the download of the installer.  When the download completes, the installer will automatically be decompressed by a decompression program such as "Stuffit Expander."  At the end of this step you should have a new file on your desktop called "Install FirstClass® Client."

3)
If you have never installed the FirstClass client before, this step will not apply so you may skip to step 4.

Before you run the install program you must quit the FirstClass client if it is running on your computer.

Bear in mind that it is not sufficient to simply close all of the windows in FirstClass.  To quit, click on the "Finder" menu in the top right-hand corner of your Macintosh screen and select "FirstClass" (see image).  This will bring the FirstClass application to the front.  Choose "Quit" from the "File" menu or press command-Q.  If you do not see FirstClass in the Finder menu, then it is not running.

4)

5)
Preliminary installer Screens:  Click "Continue...", then proceed through the License Agreement, and the "Read Me"to the main install screen.  Leave "Easy Install" selected and click "Install".  The installer will begin copying files.

Please wait patiently as the installer completes the file copying process.

If this is a first-time installation of the client, you will need to fill in the "Server" field.
To do this, click on the "Setup..." button on the "FirstClass Login" window (see image).

8)
You should now see the "FirstClass Login" screen.  Enter your user ID into the "User ID" field and click the "Save" button to the right side of the Login window.  This will save your ID so that it is available each time you launch FirstClass.

NOTE: We strongly discourage saving your password.

Saving passwords usually results in a forgotten password, and it will allow anyone with access to your computer to login to your account.  Please do not click "Save" when there is a password (displayed as asterisks) entered into the password field.

9)
You may delete (put in the trash) the file "Install FirstClass® Client" from your Macintosh desktop once the FirstClass Client program is installed.
