The Mystery Kids and the Case of the Missing Blazer

                Brrrrring!

It was the telephone in the office of the Mystery Kids: James, Zack and Jeremy.

                “Hello,” said James.

“Hello,” said the man on the other end of the phone. “This is the owner  of an expensive clothing store. One of our nicest blazers has just been stolen.  It’s blue and it’s covered in diamonds.”

“Okay,” said James. “We’ll start right away.”

“Thank you. Goodbye,” said the clothing store owner.

“Well Zack and Jeremy, it looks like we’ve got another mystery to solve,” said James. And he told them about the missing blazer.

“This sounds like the work of an interdimensional thief network,” said Jeremy. We had better buy tickets for an interdimensional train and check around some places in other dimensions to see if anyone’s heard about the blazer.”

James and Zack agreed. And so a couple hours later they got onto the interdimensional train and it set out of the station. However, the train had only been going for a little while when all of a sudden it was boarded by a gang of interdimensional train robbers! They were riding on hovering horses and they each had a sword. Some of them went in and took over the front of the train where the driver was so they could drive it to their own destination. The train was still moving fast.

The Mystery Kids also drew swords and rushed at the train robbers to try to save the train. The Mystery Kids were all having sword fights with the train robbers, but they were outnumbered. Suddenly the guy that James was fighting with raised his hand and used magical telekinesis to send James flying off the side of the train. The train rolled on to other dimensions with Zack and Jeremy still aboard.

James got up and looked around. It was nighttime and he was on a nice suburban street where the houses had big yards. It was autumn. There were big huge piles of brown leaves on the sides of the street. The air was fresh and cool. James jumped into one of the piles of leaves and stomped through it, crashing around and kicking the leaves into the air.

Suddenly a bunch of trolls came down the street. They saw James and started chasing him. Luckily, James had uncovered the entrance to a secret tunnel under one of the leaf piles he was kicking before. He dove into the tunnel and pulled some leaves over the entrance to hide it. The trolls didn’t see the tunnel and they passed by.

James walked down the tunnel for awhile and he came to a huge wide circular room, which was very open and had a very high ceiling. It was so big that James couldn’t see the wall on the other side. The room was all grey: the floor and walls were all grey stone, and there were grey, twisty trees growing here and there. It was sort of misty and dim.

James walked to the center of the room where there was a rectangular stone platform on top of a circular stone platform. On the platform was a big coffin. James opened the lid of the coffin and saw that it was empty. It was lined with red silk padding. James pulled back the padding on the bottom and saw that it was a porthole to another dimension. He climbed through to look for his friends. He fell down through the gap between dimensions.

He landed in the hallway of Bayside High, the school where Saved by the Bell takes place. The bell was just ringing and class was getting out. Screech came along and asked James what was going on. James told him everything that had happened, about the missing Blazer, the train robbers, and getting separated from Zack and Jeremy. Screech listened quietly until James was finished.

There are many secret portholes in Bayside High which lead to other dimensions. Screech told him which one to go through to look for his friends. James thanked Screech, and went up the stairs from the locker hallway. He found the place the Screech had told him about, an interdimensional porthole opened up, and he jumped through.

Suddenly he found himself in a vast open prehistoric landscape. It was a wide open savanna with volcanoes erupting in the distance. Zack and Jeremy were right close by, but they were being terrorized by a huge dinosaur! The dinosaur was an allosaurus, and he was waving his arms around and roaring at Zack and Jeremy.

                “Hi guys!” said James.

“Hi James,” said Zack and Jeremy.

“Dinosaur,” said James. “I challenge you to rock paper scissors. If you win, you get to eat us. But if I win, you have to let us go.”

                “Okay,” said the dinosaur.

Then they both said “Rock paper scissors shoot!” James made scissors and the Dinosaur made paper.

“It has to be two out of three,” said the Dinosaur.

                “Okay,” said James.

                “Rock paper scissors shoot!”

This time James played rock but the Dinosaur played paper again. It was one and one!

                “Rock paper scissors shoot!”

James played paper and the Dinosaur played rock. James had won!

“Okay,” said the Dinosaur. “Now I’ll stop terrorizing you.” The Mystery Kids were glad. From then on the Dinosaur was their friend.

“Where are you going?” said the Dinosaur. The Mystery Kids told him about the missing blazer that they were looking for.

“I think I saw the Emperor of Croutons with a blazer just like that!” said the Dinosaur. “His castle is right over there.” He pointed at a big big castle a mile or so away in the prehistoric landscape.

“Let’s go!” said the Mystery Kids. And so they walked together with the Dinosaur over to the big big castle. The Dinosaur showed them the way around to the secret entrance at the back. But when they came to the secret entrance, it was guarded by a giant monster that was very dangerous. It had the body of a tortoise, the head of a tiger, wings like an eagle, and the tail of an ankylosaurus. The monster growled at them.

But then Zack took some food out of his pocket. “Will you let us into the secret entrance if we give you some candy corn and marshmallows and fish sticks?” asked Zack.

The monster agreed. Luckily Zack had known that this is the favorite food of such monsters. Zack gave the candy corn and marshmallows and fish sticks to the monster and they walked into the secret entrance.

They were in a huge room which had a pit full of hot lava all the way across the middle of it. There was a door on the other side of the room, but the only way to the door was to walk on a very narrow bridge across the lava. It was a stone bridge which was not even one foot wide and had no handrails or anything.

So the Mystery Kids and the Dinosaur all started walking across the bridge very slowly, being very careful to keep their balance and not fall in the hot lava. They all put their arms out to the sides and walked putting one foot right in front of the other. Finally they all made it across.

When they got to the door, they saw that inside there was the beginning of a long slide which went down towards the middle of the castle. They all sat down on the slide and started sliding down. The slide was really crazy. It twisted all around and turned so that everyone was sideways and even did loop-dee-loops so that everyone went upside-down.

At last the slide dropped them down into the room in the middle of the castle. It was the throne room, and they were face to face with the Emperor of Croutons. The Emperor was wearing the missing blazer!!

“We’ve come to get the missing blazer,” said James.

“Not so fast!” said the Emperor. “My lion will stop you.” And out came a great big lion. The lion had the power to control people’s minds. He started controlling everyone’s mind so that they would walk into the castle dungeon in the next room and get in different cells. Then the Emperor would close the cell doors and they would be trapped.

The Mystery Kids and the Dinosaur started slowly marching toward the dungeon against their wills. It looked like the Emperor was going to get the best of them!

But then suddenly, with his last burst of willpower Jeremy took out a gigantic tuba and started playing. The tuba music totally broke the Lion’s mind control power. Everyone was free, and they stopped marching over to the Dungeon.

Then the Dinosaur threw a big net over the lion and the Emperor. They were stuck!

James picked up a phone from a table nearby and called the police. The police came and took the Emperor of Croutons and the lion to jail, and returned the missing blazer to the clothing store.

The Mystery Kids had done it again!
